KNEU 1250Uintah County announced on Wednesday that crews are on schedule to reopen the White River Bridge by the end of May. According to Uintah County Road Department Manager Bryan Meier, the expected date for reopen is May 26th.
Governor Gary Herbert issued an Executive Order on Wednesday clarifying guidelines in the moderate- and low-risk phases of the Utah Leads Together plan. The clarifications include the following: “Private social interactions that occur without oversight by a formal organization are allowable in groups of 20 or fewer” in the moderate-risk phase while the same guidance will apply to groups of 50 or fewer once in the low-risk phase.
Like any good newcomer to town, “Lanny” the Triceratops is checking out local businesses in Naples City and is enjoying the visitors stopping to get a picture with him. Naples City Mayor Dean Baker says “Lanny” is just a nickname for now but talk of having a contest to name the new Naples dinosaur was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
TriCounty Health Officer Jordan Mathis visited the Eagle Country 105.5 FM studio on Tuesday to deliver the weekly Give’m Health update on COVID-19. Mathis shared that theatres are able to open up this week by following spacing requirements. Spacing requirements are based off of household groups being spaced 6 feet apart so theatres can open as long as they meet those requirements.
A boil order is in place after a main water line breach in Rangely. The Town of Rangely has shared a Drinking Water Warning stating that on May 4th, a main water line was breached causing the drinking water system to experience pressure loss possibly resulting in contamination entering the system.
Construction crews are continuing the Gusher project on Highway 40. The work will alternate days of earthwork and on the water line between extending the concrete barrier on the south shoulder of Highway 40 eastward starting at 9500 East. The barrier will be worked on at night from 8pm to 7am.
The Uintah Basin Healthcare facilities have resumed services. The tent triage process for the Roosevelt Campus has been discontinued as of Friday, May 1st. The road barricades have been removed and traffic is operating as usual. That said there are still a few procedures in place.
The annual Jarive Fest has been rescheduled for September but the folks behind the scenes of the John Jarvie Historic Site want the public to know that the site will soon be reopened to visitors. The BLM shared on Tuesday that the site will have a “soft open” on May 15th and more details will follow as they receive additional guidance and direction on how to proceed.
Developed campgrounds on the Flaming Gorge Ranger District of the Ashley National Forest are scheduled to start opening this weekend. Ashley National Forest shared in a press release that the forest is working with the concessionaire to prepare these sites for use and they will begin opening on May 8th.
Roosevelt City is asking Duchesne County residents to do better when it comes to the 2020 Census. There are 3203 total counties in the United States. Duchesne County is ranked 3054th among all counties. That means that there are only 149 counties in the entire US that has a lower response rate. Roosevelt City states, “WE MUST DO BETTER.
The Basin has been well represented in numerous competitions, including reality competitions. The latest representative is Rangely native 20-year-old Jarrod Fiscus. He will be competing on Season 7 of “Forged in Fire”, a show on the History Channel that has blacksmiths and bladesmiths create various blades and weapons that are then vigorously tested by judges.
The Utah Department of Transportation plans to resume the construction project taking place on Highway 40 between Daniel Summit and milepost 46 as early as Monday, May 11th. Work will be spread out on the 11 mile stretch.
