For those planning to continue the Friday tradition of Cruisin’ During COVID on Vernal’s Main Street, the Vernal Police Department has a clear message. Safety is still required and illegal activities are still illegal. “We love seeing everyone having a good time and the smiles that the COVID Cruising down Main Street brings,” shares Vernal PD. “We would like to remind everyone that we need to make sure that we are being smart and safe while having a good time. We have noticed that there have been people hanging out of car windows and sunroofs, standing in the beds of trucks, and riding on trailers. These activities are Illegal. It is our job to ensure the safety of everyone and these activities are not safe. Remember, this is not a controlled parade where there are safety measures in place. Seatbelts are still required. If we see anyone being unsafe during these activities, we will be pulling you aside and taking the appropriate actions.” Also be sure that if you are driving you are not texting, videoing, or on your phone. Vernal Police also made it clear that reckless behavior in parking lots will be addressed and if there is a “No Loitering” sign posted then action may be taken.
