Uintah High Graduation Celebration NOT to Replace Commencement Ceremony

Before the world came to a stand still, Uintah High School Seniors were looking forward to graduating in the traditional way on Friday, May 22nd. While that Commencement Ceremony cannot happen as planned on that day, Uintah High School has found a creative way to hold an event at that time that will celebrate the Seniors in a unique way. A Drive Thru Celebration is being held that will be live streamed for family and friends to watch on Channel V6 and broadcast live on Newstalk 104.5 FM so the graduates and their families can listen to the celebration while traveling the celebration route around the high school. Seniors and their families are invited to decorate their vehicles, have an adult driving the car with the graduate in cap and gown in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, and start lining up for the celebration at 5:00 pm. Do not have anyone but immediate family in the vehicle, do not get out of the vehicle at any time, and do not drive extra large vehicles (like semis or trailers). Uintah High School Principal Sharon Shipton explains that this is not in replacement of graduation. Rather, it is just a way to celebrate the seniors on the day that would have been graduation. The regular Commencement will tentatively be held on June 26th. If for some reason a gathering of that size is still not allowed then the dates of July 17th and August 7th are reserved as backups. Diplomas will be given out at that event though Seniors will be given their diploma case when they are recognized during the May 22nd celebration.
