Public Meetings This Week for Uinta Basin Railway; Draft EIS Comments Open

The public comment period for the Draft Environmental Impact Study or EIS for the proposed Uinta Basin Railway is in its final few weeks and the final three public meetings are being held virtually this week. Comments have been welcomed and encouraged as the information provided will be considered and reviewed by the Surface Transportation Board as they analyze the project and whether or not the railway will have a future.

Colorado voters passed Proposition #114 – The Restoration of Gray Wolves which aims to reintroduce gray wolves west of the Continental Divide. Colorado Parks and Wildlife shares that ‘the passage of Proposition 114 has led to increased interest in wolves in Colorado, specifically, the wolf pack previously confirmed to be present in Moffat County.

Information Being Sought in Moffat County Poaching Incident

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is seeking information about seven elk that were recently shot and left about 20 miles north of Craig. According to a press release, a concerned citizen contacted wildlife officers on November 22nd and it was believed the incident occurred on November 20th.
