The turkey has been gobbled up and the Christmas holiday is knocking at the door. Well there is plenty to do this weekend. The Holly Days event has changed in size but not in fun. Be sure to get the Vernal Holly Days Festival checklist turned in by 4pm at Cobble Rock Park for the prize drawing from 3pm to 5pm. Winners will be texted and will have until 5pm to claim their prize. Fire Dancers will lead the Parade of Lights at 5:30pm with a big performance at 7pm in front of the County Building. The Parade of Lights will be going down Main Street starting at 6pm. The Lanterns will be launched at 7pm. Lanterns need to be purchased for $10 beforehand and will be passed out at 6:30pm. Call 435-781-6765 for lantern info. Fireworks will be around 7:30pm at the end of the parade. Santa will be at the Uintah Conference Center after the parade for free socially distanced pictures with Santa while he is in his sleigh. Another activity this weekend is the 41st annual Vernal Santa Workshop being held on Friday and Saturday at the Western Park. This craft fair and shopping expo goes from 10am to 4pm on Friday and 9am to 4pm on Saturday. The Trees for Charity will have their tree view on Friday from 11am to 8pm and on Saturday 11am to 6pm at the Uintah Conference Center. Trees for Charity will be accepting non perishable food items to be given to the local food pantry. Each item will be given a raffle ticket with some great raffle prizes. The Heritage Museum Holiday Art Sale is taking place at the Uintah County Heritage Museum. People can attend the gallery for free and purchase art with the sales benefiting the artist and the museum. Every event is asking people to follow social distancing rules and mask wearing policies.
