Local Sub For Seniors Program in Desperate Need of Support and Donations

The Sub For Seniors program has a record number of local senior citizens in need this year that they hope to spread Christmas cheer to but they need the community’s help. The Sub For Seniors program in Uintah County started in 2015 and delivered Christmas gift bags to 92 local seniors. By 2017 that number had doubled and this year it’s more than tripled to a record 350 local seniors in need. Unfortunately, donations have been especially low this year with the volunteers starting the season with only 25 percent of the usual donations at this point. They have also decided to personalize the gifts a bit more this year, giving more to those in greater need. “Any amount of contribution or donation will be carefully utilized and tremendously appreciated,” shares organizer Tiffany Henline. Suggestions for donations include non perishable food items, pet food and treats, blankets, large print crosswords and word search books, colored pencils, activity books, 500 or 1000 piece puzzles, playing cards, slippers and socks, personal hygiene items, gloves, hats, scarves, and holiday treats and candies. Businesses and individuals wishing to donate cash can go through Charitable Friends of Ashley Valley. Items should be dropped off at the Golden Age Community Center or Esquire RV.
