Senator Lee is working on legislation to do just that. “As long as I serve in Congress,” shares Senator Lee, “I will do all that I can to combat these threats.
Rifle Police Department said a hard goodbye this week. “It is with great sadness that we have to say good-bye to our incredible K9 TULO,” they shared. “Tulo passed early [Tuesday] morning laying beside his fur-ever best friend, dad, handler, Garrett Duncan.”
The COVID-19 Transmission Index Levels maintained from last week. After months of being listed at the High Transmission Level, both Uintah County and Duchesne County have stayed at the Moderate Level and Daggett County remains at the Low Transmission Level.
A press release from Uintah Middle School Principal Christy Nerdin has highlighted the school’s focus to lead, read, and succeed. The school has been using the Lexia PowerUp Literacy program to help improve student proficiency in grammar, word study, and reading comprehension.
The Roosevelt City Council took time on Tuesday to recognize multiple individuals for going the extra mile in service to others. Fred Butterfield was recognized for his acts of kindness in taking care of his neighbors. LaRee Hurley was recognized for her efforts to make sure the 2020 Main Street Halloween Parade still happened in Roosevelt City.
TriCounty Health Department is seeking more volunteers in the COVID-19 vaccination effort. According to TriCounty Health Officer Kirk Benge, the weekly shipments of doses are expected to double from 700 to 1500 and they are moving to larger locations to accommodate more people.
The Utah Nurse Practitioner Association is behind a bill that they say will remove barriers to practice and increase patient access in Utah and the Vernal Chamber Legislative Committee is in support of the bill. HB 287, Nurse Practice Act Amendments, would remove a barrier that restricts the practice of Nurse Practitioners and prevents some from owning their own practice.
With the pieces falling into place, it appears that electric scooters, similar to those seen in downtown Salt Lake City, will soon be available to rent in Vernal. Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion presented on the prospect at the City County meeting on Monday.
The D.A.R.E. program continues to educate and empower local youth and the most recent class to graduate from the program is the awesome kids at Con Amore school in Duchesne County. The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office offered their congratulations to the students from Mrs. Aliza and Mrs. Shelly’s classes who actually participated in the 2020 D.A.R.E. program and finally got to hold their graduation on Monday.
While a few hiccups have slowed down the vaccination efforts this week, TriCounty Health has announced that their COVID-19 vaccine scheduling is back online and up and running.
