Sha-Mar Pets Christmas Village Display A Favorite Stop For Holiday Cheer

It's hard to believe Christmas is over and a local business will soon start the careful process of taking apart their epic Christmas village. For the last three years, Sha-Mar Pets in Roosevelt has transformed the store front displays into a massive Christmas village made up of hundreds and hundreds of intricate pieces. Maria and Shaune Underwood use to set the display up in their home but decided to share their collection with the public so others could enjoy it as well. “We have a lot of people that will stand at the window to watch it,” shares Shaune.

DWR: Wildlife Highway Crossings Aim to Prevent Collisions

The Division of Wildlife Resources and Utah Department of Transportation worked together in 2019 to create more wildlife crossings across Utah roadways, including one over Highway 40 north of Strawberry Reservoir. Around 6,300 deer and elk were confirmed killed in vehicle collisions in 2019, though the actual number is believed to be much higher. "Deer typically follow the same migration routes every year," shares DWR migration initiative coordinator Daniel Olson.

Choir and Orchestra Members Sought For ‘Lamb of God’ Production

After a beautiful production in 2019, organizers of the ‘Lamb of God’ are once again calling all Uintah Basin vocalists and musicians who would like to participate in the 2020 production that will take place during the Easter season. Practices for the choir and orchestra will begin this Sunday and all are welcome to be part of this inspiring musical portrayal of the final days of the life of Jesus Christ from award winning composer Rob Gardner. The practices will be held on Sundays at 4:30pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints building located at 447 East Lagoon Street in Roosevelt. The performances will be held on March 8th.

Naples Third Annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks Show Tonight

Tonight is the third annual New Year’s Eve fireworks show in Naples City put on by Ashley Acre Lights. Naples hosted successful fireworks shows for July 24th and New Year’s Eve for the first time in 2017 and Naples City Council has continued approving the shows as a fun family activity enjoyed by community members from throughout the Uintah Basin and beyond. The July 24th show entertained a large, diverse crowd, as is expected again tonight. Naples City Manager Joshua Bake has explained that these events are aimed at building a sense of community in Naples and inviting visitors to come enjoy what Naples has to offer.

Rifle Latest Hit With Car Thefts and Break-ins

Car break-ins and thefts have been an issue this month as holiday grinches make their rounds throughout the region. Most recently, Rifle Police Department reported Sunday morning that in the previous 24 hours there had been 3 cars stolen in Rifle, a highly unusual occurrence in that community. “In each case the car was unlocked,” shared Rifle Police. “In two cases, spare keys were left inside the car and in the last instance, a victim started his truck to warm it up and returned a few minutes later to find it missing.

Do not pile snow in front of or around fire hydrants. Piles of snow quickly turn to ice, making it impossible for firefighters to access the hydrant in an emergency. Remember to move all vehicles off the road on snowy days so that plows can get through and do their job.
