Suicide on the Rise in TriCounty Health District

Suicide is on the rise in Utah and the TriCounty Health District is among the highest in the state. TriCounty Health Director Jordan Mathis attended the Uintah County Commission meeting on Monday, stating that it’s time to create an open dialogue around this issue in the community as a whole.

Jones Hole Creek in Monument Reopened for Recreational Access

Jones Hole Creek has reopened to recreational access within Dinosaur National Monument. According to Monument Chief of Visitor Services Dan Johnson, no noticeable contamination of the stream inside the monument has taken place as a result of the septic line break at the Jones Hole Fish Hatchery which is managed by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

Two Charged in Transient Death in Sweetwater County

Two people have been charged in the death of a transient on August 18th in Sweetwater County. According to Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office, the body of a 26-year-old man was found by Union Pacific railroad personnel at 2:30am on Saturday, August 19th, and it was determined the man, identified as Eric Barrett of Arkansas, had suffered fatal trauma as a result of a fall off of a train.
