A public meeting scheduled for tonight will explore the planning of future Ashley Valley Flood Control projects. According to Sunrise Engineering, the planning process currently happening “seeks to obtain input from residents of Uintah County who live inside Ashley Valley but outside Vernal City and Naples City.”

Holly Days Brings Crowds to Vernal
The 13th year of Vernal’s annual Holly Days did not disappoint on Friday. Any chill in the air wasn’t felt as locals and visitors from far off places enjoyed free activities throughout the town. According to event coordinator Dale Allred, the initial estimates are that there were around 11,000 participants.
Tree Charity Events Support Locals in Need
A slowed economy has not dulled charitable giving in the Uintah Basin as evidenced by two holiday fundraising events. The Trees for Charity auction gala was held Monday night at the Uintah Conference Center, raising over $220,000 dollars for local causes.
Funeral Services Announced for Trooper Ellsworth
Local law enforcement will join many throughout the state at the funeral services for Trooper Eric Ellsworth who will be laid to rest in the Brigham City Cemetery on Wednesday. Trooper Eric Ellsworth was hit by a vehicle near Garland City in northern Utah while he responded to a call of low hanging power lines on November 18th.

The 2016 Mothers Against Drunk Driving report to the nation was released this month, ranking Utah high in drunk driving prevention efforts. Utah received a rating of 3.5 out of 5 stars receiving full points for having an all offender interlock law and expedited warrants.

More details have been released on the upcoming Uintah County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Police Academy. Two times a year, the academy will offer 12-weeks of classes held once a week for 3 hours.

The Uintah County Commission approved the vacation of a road that intersects Skinwalker Ranch during a November Commission meeting. The Hicken Ranch Road intersects the property that is known throughout the region and beyond for stories of paranormal activity with warnings to stay away heeded by many locals.
