Adding historic bling to downtown Vernal is just the beginning of plans being brewed by the 5th to 5th Revitalization Committee. Working with the Regional History Center, the group helped spruce up downtown this week with enlarged historic photos put on display in existing and, in some cases, vacant store windows.

State Water Plan for the Uintah Basin
The Utah Division of Water Resources released its latest update to the state water plan this month and the Uintah Basin is its focus. Over the last 26 years, the state has devised statewide water plans as well as individual plans for each of the state’s 11 major hydrological river basins, of which the Uintah Basin is included.

Burglaries Span Region
More details are available on area burglaries since the arrest of Tracey Soules and Monty Ellis. According to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Department, the spike in burglaries took place over the last two weeks and covered homes in Ballard, Lapoint and areas around Vernal in just Uintah County but areas throughout the region have been hit.
Duchesne County Theft in Oilfield
The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office is asking for information from the public on theft that has occurred in the Clay Basin area at an oilfield location. The Sheriff’s Office first responded to the call of theft on November 2nd after a site by 11000 West was reported as broken into with items missing and damaged.
