Vernal City Council approved an amendment to the engineering agreement with GDA on the airport runway project. Vernal Regional Airport Manager Kelly Harvey addressed the council duringWednesday’s meeting, explaining that the amendment has to do with a 404 permit required by the Environmental Protection Agency dealing with wetlands and environmental issues.

Vernal City Council Denies Monetary Commitment to Storm Water Project
Vernal City Council declined to approve financial commitment to a Uintah County Flood Control Plan during Wednesday’s City Council meeting. Plans to update the flood control system have been discussed since a 2008 study outlined projects needed to mitigate flood risks.

Uintah DECA Students Headed to Nashville
A group of students from the Uintah High School DECA chapter will be attending the International Career and Development Conference in Nashville next week. 15 students from Uintah competed in the Utah DECA Competition last February in Layton.

Uintah FBLA Heading to Nationals
Uintah High School’s Future Business Leaders of America(FBLA) Chapter enjoyed success at the state competition this month and qualified for nationals this summer. 23 Uintah students competed among 1,300 at the state competition and 3 students made the cut to move on.
