Regional Firefighter Training

Things will be heating up Friday and Saturday at the Western Park complex as firefighters from across the Basin receive hands on training from the Utah Fire and Rescue Academy. According to Uintah County Fire Marshall Jeremy Raymond, there will be around 60 firefighters attending the Uintah Basin Regional Fire School, mostly from Uintah County but also some from Duchesne, Daggett and even Salt Lake County. “Our Fire Chief Committee decided this would be something great for our area,” says Raymond. “We are excited to have it happening here and the Western Park and Conference Center is the perfect place to hold it.” Classes will include Live Fire Training, Vehicle Extrication and an Emergency Apparatus Driving Simulator, among others. “These trainings really help make sure our firefighters are performing safely,” shares Raymond. “The Academy even brings out a burn prop with a live fire. We don’t get many structure fires in the Basin so any chance our firefighters have to train in a live structure fire provides great experience.”
