Vernal Man Charged For Alleged Theft Of Transaction Cards And Documents

A Vernal man has been charged for alleged theft that took place this summer. According to the Probable Cause Statement, on or about June 5, 2026, in Uintah County, 59-year-old Ricky Vernon Nichols acquired without consent three financial transaction cards belonging to another, obtained or possessed identifying documents of two individuals with knowledge he was not entitled to them, and obtained or exercised unauthorized control over another’s property to deprive the owner of that property. Nichols was charged in 8th District Court with 3rd Degree Felony Unlawful Acquire and Possession of Financial Card, as well as Unlawful Possession of ID of Another and Theft.
