Sign up for local emergency alerts and follow official local sources. Put together a family plan in case of emergency. Know multiple ways out of your neighborhood, pick meeting places, and know who is responsible for kids, pets, medications, and documents. Practicing your plan can really improve preparedness. Have a ‘Go Bag’ ready with water, food, medications, first aid, important documents, flashlights, batteries, phone charger/power bank, change of clothes, pet supplies, cash and a paper contact list. “Don't rely on rumors or social media posts to decide whether you should leave,” shares Lapoint-Tridell Fire Department. “Verify information through official sources.
