Vernal City and Ashley Valley Water and Sewer Exploring Shared Maintenance

by | Jun 29, 2021 | News | 0 comments

In a joint press release from Vernal City and the Ashley Valley Water and Sewer Improvement District (AVWSID), the two organizations announced that they are looking at the possibility of combining operation and maintenance duties. They will be exploring the idea with a feasibility report. The report will be drafted in the next 90 days to explore the option of combined maintenance resources. This exploration effort is conducted with the goal of becoming more efficient, reducing cost, providing better services, preparing for growth, reducing duplication of services and ultimately ensuring the ongoing quality of excellence water users have come to expect. Once drafted, the feasibility report will be discussed by both elected Boards to determine if further actions are warranted. Public input is welcome during the exploration process and at the time this option is discussed at open meetings.  Billing, rates, budget and meters are expected to remain with the respective agencies. The Ashley Valley Water and Sewer Improvement District currently serves approximately 5,000 water connections while Vernal City serves 3,200 connections.
