Uintah School District Implements Literacy Framework Required By Senate Bill 241

Uintah School District has announced that in conjunction with Utah Senate Bill 241, new assessments and interventions are being added to elementary schools. SB 241 went into effect on July 1st, adding a state mandated requirement for schools to establish a comprehensive early literacy framework to ensure all elementary students develop strong reading skills. Uintah School District has shared that the first testing window of the school year concludes on September 17th. If your child's assessment results indicate they are reading below grade level or well below grade level, you will receive a formal notification letter within 10 days of testing completion. This letter will explain your child's assessment results, describe the current reading support your child is receiving, outline the District’s plan to help your child reach grade-level reading proficiency, and invite you to participate in developing an Individualized Reading Plan (IRP), which outlines personalized, targeted reading interventions for your child.
