Burglary In Vernal City Ends In Arrest

An alleged burglary in Vernal City ended in arrest last week. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, the victims had woken up to the sound of their garage door opening and closing multiple times. They then heard someone attempting to open the back door at which point they called 911. Officers responded and found a man, later identified as John Viteretti, inside the victim’s truck parked inside the garage. Viteretti ignored numerous commands to exit the vehicle before exiting and then resisted being put into handcuffs. The victims confirmed that they did not know Viteretti and confirmed that the sunglasses he was wearing at the time of arrest were from their vehicle. 67-year-old John Frank Viteritti was arrested and is charged with 2nd Degree Felony Burglary of a Dwelling, Burglary of a Vehicle, and Interfering with a Peace Officer.
