A traffic stop for speeding in Uintah County last week ended in arrest for the driver. According to the Probable Cause Statement, Jesus Salzar provided a Mexico-issued passport and Mexican driver’s license. Records showed outstanding warrants, revoked vehicle registration, and no insurance. The vehicle was impounded. During an inventory search, officers found four counterfeit documents in the vehicle: two fake Social Security cards (one recently printed with the driver’s name, one with a different name), one fake Utah identification card, and one fake United States permanent resident card with a different name. The four documents appeared to be issued by the Social Security Administration, the State of Utah, and the United States government. One document had been recently printed. The driver knew they were fake, as he admitted to when questioned. 25-year-old Jesus Alfredo Lopez Salzar was arrested and is charged with 6 felonies related to false identification as well as identity fraud.
