A Fort Duchesne man who is a repeat DUI offender was arrested for DUI in Uintah County last week. According to the Probable Cause Statement, on June 26, Gregory Checora drove into an automated car wash, failed to place the vehicle in neutral as directed, and drove through the bay while impaired before leaving the property. Two children under the age of sixteen were passengers in the vehicle. Checora is an alcohol-restricted driver. He had a measurable amount of alcohol in his body and operated the vehicle without an interlock device. An open container of alcohol and a partially consumed bottle of liquor were located in the passenger compartment next to the driver’s seat. The Probable Cause Statement concluded that Checora’s conduct in operating the vehicle while highly impaired, with two young children as passengers, and improperly driving through the car wash demonstrated willful and wanton disregard for the safety of persons and property. He has two or more prior DUI convictions. 49-year-old Gregory Chauncey Checora is charged with 3rd Degree Felony DUI along with other related Misdemeanor charges.
