The following announcement was issued by GOP Chairman Kason Goodrich on Friday, October 16, 2026: The Uintah County Republican Party has officially selected K. Mark Caldwell to fill the upcoming mid‑term vacancy for Uintah County Treasurer. This decision was made in full compliance with Party Bylaws and Utah Code. State statute requires the Party to submit one name for a treasurer vacancy under U.C.A. §20A‑1‑508(7)(b)(ii). That nomination has now been formally delivered to the Uintah County Commission. Importantly, U.C.A. §20A‑1‑508(7)(b)(iv) states that: “The county legislative body shall, no later than seven calendar days after the day on which a party liaison submits the name of the individual to fill the vacancy, appoint the individual to serve out the unexpired term.” This means the Commission has seven calendar days from receipt of the Party’s nominee to make the appointment. We thank Treasurer Wendi Long for her service and look forward to a smooth transition that ensures continuity and stability in Uintah County’s financial operations.
