Uintah Basin To Be Served By Veterans Affairs Suicide Prevention Grant

The Uintah Basin is among the limited areas in Utah that will be served by a Department of Veterans Affairs grant through the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program. The Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded $111.9 million in grants to 191 community organizations nationwide that provide suicide prevention services to Veterans. Utah State University received the only Utah based award. USU was awarded a $747,048 grant and the geography to be served is listed as Duchesne, Uintah, Salt Lake, and Tooele Counties. “Community organizations are critical to reaching Veterans who may not otherwise connect with VA care,” said VA Secretary Doug Collins in the announcement. “VA’s Fox grant program often serves as a bridge between vital federal resources and vulnerable Veterans in need of help.”
