It can be helpful to know the location of the latest prescribed burn on the Ashley National Forest. According to a Wednesday announcement, the Flaming Gorge Ranger District will continue prescribed burns today, October 8th through Saturday, October 10th. “Crews plan to burn approximately 300 acres near Highway 191 between Greendale Junction and Cedar Springs,” shares the announcement. “This prescribed fire is to help remove excess vegetation, reduce wildfire risk, improve habitat, and restore fire-adapted ponderosa pine forests. Smoke may be visible along roadways. Drivers should slow down and turn on headlights.” No closures are in place, but the public is asked to avoid the area to stay out of the way while firefighters work.
