Uintah Basin Schools Part Of Utah 2034 Champion Schools Education Program

The Olympics are coming to Utah in 2034 and Utah’s Olympic organizing committee announced this week the launch of Utah 2034 Champion Schools with 2 Uintah Basin schools on the launch list. “The Olympic and Paralympic Games have the power to inspire people of all ages, and we want that inspiration to start reaching Utah’s young people long before 2034,” shares Utah 2034 CEO Brad Wilson. “Champion Schools 34 is an important part of our commitment to creating a lasting legacy by bringing the values of sport into classrooms across our state.” Monday’s announcement shares that each month, participating schools will focus on a different value and give students ways to explore each month’s theme both inside and outside the classroom. More schools will be involved with the program, but to celebrate the launch, 7 elementary schools in the state will host “Opening Ceremonies” this month with activities like torch relays and assemblies with Olympians and Paralympians. Out of the 7 elementary schools, 2 are Uintah Basin schools. Maeser Elementary in Uintah County will host on September 9th and Centennial Elementary in Duchesne County on September 10th.
