A Duchesne County man is facing felony charges for actions that allegedly took place on Sunday, August 30th. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, 37-year-old James Jay Redden came to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment around midnight and was knocking on the window and door. He forcefully pushed the door open and made un-permitted entry into the residence. For approximately 3 hours, Redden held down and assaulted the victim. When the victim would attempt to yell for help, Redden would cover her mouth and nose. Redden also allegedly told the victim that he wanted to bury her and cover her with cement. Redden left at about 3am and the victim went to the police department to report what had happened. Extensive bruising was observed on the victim’s arms, neck, and chin, and she had bite marks, including on the cheek. The victim also stated that there were times she couldn’t breath and one time Redden’s nose began to bleed from being pressed so hard against the victim’s face. Following the police investigation, James Jay Redden was located and arrested. Redden is charged with 2nd Degree Felony Burglary of a Dwelling, 2nd Degree Felony Kidnapping, and 3rd Degree Felony Aggravated Assault.
