School is back in session across the Uintah Basin and TriCounty Health Department is encouraging parents and guardians to review pedestrian safety with their children for safe travel to and from school. “Here are a few quick reminders to share with kids as they head back to school and spend more time walking around the community,” shares the Safe Kids Worldwide message. “Use crosswalks and sidewalks! Look right, left, and right again before crossing the street. Make eye contact with any drivers at the crosswalk before crossing the street. If listening to music, remove headphones or lower the volume before crossing the street. Use a cellphone only in a safe area, away from traffic.” Teach your kids to take pedestrian safety seriously and be sure to lead by example by following safe practices yourself.
