Safety Tips As Record High Temperatures And Critical Conditions Increase

Caution is important this week with record high temperatures forecast combined with an increase of winds. National Weather Service forecasts that temperatures will be at or above record highs and that winds are expected to increase tomorrow. With temperatures increasing it is important to remember to ‘look before you lock’. Never leave a child or pet in a vehicle unattended for any length of time. Rolling windows down or parking in the shade does little to change the interior temperature of the vehicle. Make it a habit to check your entire vehicle — especially the back seat — before locking the doors and walking away.  The record high temperatures also bring a round of widespread critical fire weather conditions and the need to take wildfire safety seriously. Keep tree limbs trimmed up to 10 feet from the ground. Keep several feet between tree branches and always trim branches that overhang your home, porch and deck. Keep plants, trees and branches at least 10 feet from your home.
