Rotary Club of Vernal, Utah

Certificate of Appreciation

April 11, 2023

Rotary is the largest non-political, non-religious humanitarian organization in the world.  It was established in Chicago in 1905 and has over 34,000 clubs in over 200 countries.

We direct our efforts to enhance our local and global impact. Our most successful and sustainable projects and activities tend to fall within the following areas:

  • Promoting peace
  • Fighting disease
  • Providing clean water
  • Saving mothers and children
  • Supporting education
  • Growing local economies
  • Protecting the environment

The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians to use for their personal and professional relationships.
Of the things we think, say, or do.

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Rotary Club of Vernal was founded in 1959 by a group of community-minded citizens.  Since then, they have contributed many hours to help and improve our community and world.

Some of the local projects are:  Santa’s Community Effort is managed by the Rotary Club each year to provide Christmas gifts to children in need.  The Rotary Club does a lot with literacy. Every year since 2005 they have given a dictionary to each 3rd-grade child in Uintah County.

During Covid to help and support local, small businesses they started “Shop Local and Win”.  If you shopped in a locally owned business, you were entered in a drawing to win prizes. The idea was to help small businesses stay open.

Each year Rotary plants trees in a selected area to improve the landscape and quality of our community.  They donate grow boxes to the Food Pantry to help provide fresh produce to Food Pantry recipients.

They purchase and provide Bilirubin blankets to the hospital to give to babies with jaundice.  These blankets allow the babies to go home to be treated instead of staying in the hospital.  Annually the Rotary Club sponsors a coat drive to assist those in need with warm winter coats.

Some of the International Projects that Vernal Rotary has contributed to recently are:

Water well projects in Peru & Guatemala

Medical Clinic projects in Mexico, Peru, and Africa

Sustainable fish harvesting in Africa

Micro Business Loan projects in Africa and Peru

Providing wheelchairs for the disabled in Peru – joint project with The Catholic Church and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

The Public Relations Committee of the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce would like to present a Certificate of Appreciate to the Rotary Club of Vernal in recognition of their many efforts to support and improve our community.
