Roosevelt City Explores Selling Excess Water

Roosevelt City is exploring possible revenue opportunities from selling excess water. According to Roosevelt City Manager Ryan Snow, the City has a sizeable amount of water tied up in different areas and negotiations are in place for selling the excess water to different oilfield companies. This would not be selling shares, explains Snow, but selling gallons of water that could come from out of the sewer pumps, irrigation water, culinary water or out of the sandwash. This could be something of a game changer if it works out, says Snow, but if it doesn’t it won’t be a detriment to the City because it has not been included in the budget anyway. The City is looking to sell an excess of possibly 500 to 2000 acre feet of water which on the low end would calculate to having 162 million gallons of water to sell. Snow also stated that the City is exploring ways to sell excess water from the Victory Pipeline.
