Enjoying the great outdoors is a way of life in the Uintah Basin and more opportunities could be forthcoming. According to Duchesne County Planner Mike Hyde, planning is underway for a special recreation management area in Nine Mile Canyon. The focus is to integrate these future possibilities with all existing uses in the canyon. Motorized and non-motorized recreation are priorities as plans are considered. A public workshop is being held on March 8th from 1 to 4pm at the Duchesne County Centennial Event Center. The workshop will also review the potential impacts on private land, grazing, ranching, archaeology, and the oil and gas industry. Those interested in participating are asked to RSVP by calling (509)430-3123 by March 7th.
