An officer patrolling Naples City was in the right place at the right time to make our roads safer this week. On January 27th just before midnight, an officer observed a white Jeep swaying within its lane of traffic and then cross the center line and back over to the road’s shoulder. The officer initiated a traffic stop. The driver was asked if he had anything to drink that night and he stated that he had. The driver became resistant to instruction and dispatch was asked to perform a driver check which returned that 40-year-old Clinton Lee is an Alcohol Restricted Driver and that his vehicle requires an Ignition Interlock Device. Lee would not cooperate with testing but he did have bloodshot eyes, slurred repetitive speech, and the odor of alcohol on him. An inventory of the vehicle found open and empty cans of alcohol on the back floorboard of the vehicle and there was no Ignition Interlock Device installed. A criminal history check showed 2 prior DUI convictions within 10 years making this DUI arrest a 3rd Degree Felony.
