Repeat DUI Offender Arrested In Duchesne County With Children In Car

A DUI arrest took place over the weekend in Duchesne County. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, the officer was traveling eastbound on Highway 40 towards Roosevelt when a vehicle was locked on radar at 111mph near mile marker 91. A traffic stop was conducted at mile marker 88 and it was found that the driver, Austin Valdez, had a suspended license, ignition interlock restrictions, and was an alcohol-restricted driver. The officer noted the odor of alcohol coming from Austin’s person and he was also slurring his words. Standardized Field Sobriety Testing was performed and Austin was arrested and transported to Duchesne County Jail. There were four passengers in the car, including 3 children. 30-year-old Austin David Valdez is charged with three counts of 3rd Degree Felony DUI with a passenger under 16 years of age as well as Reckless Driving and other Misdemeanor charges.
