KNEU 1250A former Uintah Basin community member is off on an exciting new adventure. According to Moab Sun News, Josh Hansen is the new manager for the recently designated Utahraptor State Park north of Moab. Hansen began working at the Utah Department of Natural Resources in 2017 at Red Fleet and Steinaker State Parks.
The Uinta Basin Railway is one step closer to reality as the Final Environmental Impact Statement (Final EIS) was released today, August 6th. If approved, the proposed rail line would extend from two terminus points in the Uinta Basin near Myton and Leland Bench to a proposed connection with the existing Union Pacific Provo Subdivision near Kyune, Utah.
It has been 10 years since Sgt. Daniel Gurr was killed in action while on patrol in Afghanistan. Starting at 8am on Saturday, August 7th, all are invited to join the friends and family of Sgt. Gurr in a walk from the Uintah County building to the Vernal Cemetery.

Now that guidelines have been received by state and local health officials, Duchesne County School District provided an update on their COVID-19 protocols. COVID-19 vaccination is not required and face masks are not mandatory. COVID testing will not be required in most circumstances, including extracurricular activities.
TriCounty Health Department provided the update to the COVID-19 Transmission Index on Thursday. As of August 5th, Duchesne County and Uintah County remain at the High Transmission Index Level and Daggett County remains at the Low Level.

The Uintah County Office of Emergency Management has a message for those whose homes were damaged by flooding over the weekend. The announcement shares that they are conducting a preliminary damage assessment (PDA) of homes in Uintah County for the State of Utah that experienced flooding within the living quarters.

Dinosaur National Monument has announced that due to significant damage from a recent thunderstorm, the Yampa Bench Road in Dinosaur National Monument is closed from the monument’s east boundary to the junction with the Echo Park Road until further notice. A thunderstorm passed over the Yampa Bench Road area early on Tuesday, August 3rd.
