Wilkerson Released to Halfway House
Citizens in the Basin are expressing their concern over word that a repeat sex offender sentenced to Utah prison in 2014 has been released. 43-year-old Tommy Lance Wilkerson was living in Duchesne County when he was sentenced in 8th District Court in 2014 to serve up to 5 years in prison for violation of a protective order.

While the Division of Wildlife Resources is considering adding bait options to the allowable list, biologists say they need to consider carefully. Currently, Utah is the only state in the West that does not allow corn to be used as fishing bait.

Library Lego Club Back
Thousands of colorful building blocks covered the carpet of the conference room in the Uintah County Library on late Thursday afternoon. Along with a slew of school year activities, a new year of the LEGO club is now officially underway and there was plenty of little builders in attendance on day one.

Flaming Gorge-Vernal Ranger District Prescribed Burn
A prescribed burn is planned by the Flaming Gorge-Vernal Ranger District for the Red Canyon and North Flank areas on the north slope of the Uinta Mountains this fall. This is a continuation of burning from the spring and previous years.
