Future of BTA the Focus of Monday Meeting

A hot topic the last several months will be the focus of a joint meeting today between the Uintah Basin Association of Governments and the Uintah Basin Economic Development Board. The future of BTA became a topic of conversation after statements were made this summer by Uintah County Commissioners that the county may not continue funding the program, indicating that minimal ridership may not justify the cost of the program. BTA passenger count data requested from UBAOG shows that ridership for 2016 is exceeding that of years past. Ridership for BTA’s first year totalled 23,283 passengers.

Two years later

in 2014 the count had risen to 28,830 passengers. The next year showed a slight dip to 28,707 passengers followed by a huge jump totalling 33,287 passengers for July of 2015 to June of 2016. 2016 has seen the highest month-passenger totals yet recorded with August totalling 3,183 passengers, second only to last March for the highest passenger count for a single month. Today’s meeting is being held at the Uintah County Conference Room at 3:00pm.
