State fire restrictions are to be taken seriously and local citations have been given out. Uintah County Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond reports that, as an example, on Saturday alone multiple fires were started and several citations were issued.

Vernal’s 4th of July Parade Keeps Patriotic Focus

As is true every year, the Vernal Chamber’s 4th of July Parade spread patriotism and excitement. The Terra Academy float won the Most Patriotic award. The Bailey Family’s float, A Time to Be Proud, was awarded the Best Flag Display. Dinosaur Expeditions float, Sharing America’s Rivers, won the Little Patriot Award and the Jensen Pumpkin Festival’s float, Life is a Circus, was awarded Most Unique.

SafeUT Crisis and Tipline Services Offered as Tool for Teens

The Uintah School District is one of many districts throughout the state utilizing a special App aimed at helping teens in crisis. The SafeUT program was developed using funding from the Utah State Legislature collaborating with the University Neuropsychiatric Institute, the Utah State Office of Education, the Utah Office of Attorney General, and the Utah Anti-Bullying Coalition.

Flaming Gorge Event to Feature Fish-Eating Osprey

Former Casa Rios Restaurant Building Burns

Many locals considered it a tragedy when Casa Rios Mexican Restaurant in Vernal closed its doors in 2015, a casualty of the failing economy. Tragedy has unfortunately struck again after a fire caused significant damage to the building on 2750 West Highway 40 on Friday night.
