National Weather Service has made perhaps the most exciting announcement of the summer: the high heat is nearly over. Today, August 21st, has been labeled “One Last Hot Day!” Near record temperatures about ten degrees above normal are expected across eastern Utah and Western Colorado. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are also possible this afternoon over the higher terrain. While you are visiting the Uintah County Fair or spending time outside, remember to avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day, never leave kids or pets unattended in vehicles, and keep your pets indoors or provide plenty of shade and water.
