A no-bail warrant arrest on Saturday included new drug charges. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, Sheriff’s officers joined BIA officers at Ute Plaza supermarket in Fort Duchesne as they spoke with an individual. An officer recognized the individual from previous encounters and dispatch conducted a records check, locating two active warrants for arrest, including a no-bail warrant for drug offenses. 58-year-old Matthew Paul Romero was told he was under arrest and was asked if he had any prohibited items. He said he had a glass pipe in his backpack. A gray tooter pipe was located on the ground near his feet. Foil containing burnt residue and marijuana was found in Romero’s flannel coat. A glass pipe with burnt residue believed to be methamphetamine was found in the backpack. Romero was booked on the warrants as well as new charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
