Senator John Curtis has introduced the ‘Fix Our Forests’ Act as concern grows for this year’s wildfire season. Curtis shares that the bill addresses the serious wildfire risks across the American West where, from 2023 to 2024, wildfires in Utah doubled—and across the country, they increased even more than that. Senator Curtis is joined by Senators Hickenlooper from Colorado, Sheehy from Montana, and Padilla from California. “Utah and the American West are on the front lines of a growing wildfire crisis—and the longer we wait, the more acres will burn, and more families will be impacted,” shares Curtis’ announcement. “After months of bipartisan cooperation and consensus-building, [these Senators introduced] the Fix Our Forests Act, bipartisan legislation to combat catastrophic wildfires, restore forest ecosystems, and make federal forest management more efficient and responsive. The comprehensive bill reflects months of bipartisan negotiations to best accelerate and improve forest management practices, streamline environmental reviews, and strengthen partnerships between federal agencies, states, tribes, and private stakeholders.”
