A new memorial is in place in the Heber City Cemetery to honor Ute Chief Tabby-To-Kwanah and his son Tom Tabby. “In the quiet stillness of the Heber City Cemetery, a simple sandstone marker bearing the initials “T.T.” rests beneath the towering branches of a pine tree,” shares the announcement. “The grave belongs to Tom Tabby, the son of Tabby-To-Kwanah, a respected leader of the Ute people and a figure remembered in local history as a man who sought peace between cultures during a turbulent time.” The new monument, statue, and historical plaque is in place where Tom Tabby was buried in the 1800s. For more details on Chief Tabby-To-Kwanah, known as “A Man of Peace”, visit the memorial announcement on heberut.gov. The community is invited to a special dedication ceremony of the new monument taking place on Saturday, May 2nd, at the Heber City Cemetery at 1pm.
