An assault in Vernal City limits resulted in arrest late last month. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, officers responded to a call that a man had been assaulted while asleep in his bed. The victim’s brother had broken into the room, assaulted him, and then fled the scene. The victim had a laceration above the left eye and an injury on the back that “had taken all of the skin away exposing the victim’s muscle.” The man was quickly located attempting to hide behind a trailer. He had blood on his face with no visible injuries. He was taken into custody while resisting arrest. 54-year-old John Robert Renwick is charged with 3rd Degree Felony Assault with Substantial Bodily Injury along with other misdemeanor charges, including Public Intoxication and Property Damage.
