Construction is moving forward on the Highway 40 widening project between Myton and Roosevelt. The project is set to widen U.S. 40 to five lanes made up of two travel lanes in each direction, a center turn lane, and 10 foot shoulders in each direction. According to the Utah Department of Transportation, road widening is currently the focus from 6250 South to the Ioka Junction. From the Ioka Junction heading north, utilities including water, natural gas, electricity, and telecommunications, are working to move their lines so widening activities can begin there. “Crews are working on both sides of U.S. 40 and all lanes of traffic are currently open,” shares UDOT, “although the shoulder is closed in some locations while crews or equipment are present.” Earthwork and utility relocations will continue over the next month and no significant travel delays are expected at this time. Later, when paving begins, drivers can expect lane restrictions and travel delays.
