EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin announced the latest EPA proposal this week that would significantly revise Biden-era oil and natural gas regulations under the Clean Air Act. The proposal is anticipated to save the U.S. economy $45 billion dollars in costs to consumers and businesses as well as release 210 million more barrels of American oil and 1.41 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. EPA Region 8 public affairs specialist Melissa Walther shares why this matters for us. “From Colorado to Wyoming, Utah, Montana, and North Dakota, energy production supports jobs, local businesses, and communities that depend on the industry,” shares Walther. “EPA’s proposal raises important questions about how federal regulations affect the economics of energy production in the region, particularly for smaller operators and marginal wells. It also creates an opportunity to examine how federal standards can account for different operating conditions, production levels, and economic realities across western energy-producing states. That’s real relief for Utah families feeling the squeeze at the pump and on their utility bills, and a lifeline for small businesses running marginal wells.” Learn more about the proposal at https://www.epa.gov/newsreleases/epa-proposes-major-new-revisions-burdensome-unworkable-biden-era-oil-and-natural-gas.
