Dark Sky for the Orionids Meteor Shower at Dinosaur National Monument

by | Oct 20, 2022 | News | 0 comments

Dinosaur National Monument is inviting the public to check out the Orionids meteor shower. The Monument is the perfect place with a dark sky designation to watch the shower. The meteor shower peaks on the night of October 20th until the early morning hours of the 21st around 6am. The moon does rise at 2:30am but it is only a thin crescent moon so it should not hinder a person’s viewing experience. For those that are not early risers, the meteors will be.visible on the nights before and after the peak as well, and the sky will be nice and dark in the evenings.
