Crash In Western Colorado Following Evasion Of Traffic Stop On Highway 40

On July 4, Colorado State Patrol was notified of a 2-vehicle crash on Highway 40 in western Colorado. According to a Colorado State Patrol press release, this incident originated from an attempted traffic stop where the suspect vehicle fled. Shortly after, the suspect vehicle, a red Mazda 3 that was driven by a 33-year-old male from Craig, Colorado, collided with the front-left side of a silver Ford Explorer that was occupied by four adults. The occupants of the Ford Explorer all suffered minor injuries due to the crash, but were not transported and remained at the scene. The driver of the red Mazda suffered serious bodily injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The Colorado State Patrol is leading the crash investigation of this incident.
