KNEU 1250Crews are wrapping up on the road construction on Roosevelt City State Street south of Highway 40. The Roosevelt Bulletin explains that an ongoing project in the area has improved storm drainage, widened the road, and added sidewalks for heavy pedestrian traffic to and from Centennial Elementary School.

Uintah, Duchesne, and Daggett County have joined with TriCounty Health Department in filing a joint lawsuit against “Big Pharma” opioid manufacturers and distributors. According to the June 7th press release, the 243-page Complaint states that the opioid crisis was created by misinformation, false claims, and marketing generated by the manufacturers and distributors of drugs.
Residents at Silver Pines Condominiums in Vernal were shocked Saturday morning to discover a massive hole in the outer wall of a first floor rental unit. According to Vernal City Police, officers were dispatched to 860 South Vernal Avenue at 7:15am on June 9th regarding extensive damage caused when a vehicle collided with the front of Apartment #R103.
The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office is recognizing a Deputy who saved a man’s life last week. Over the weekend, Deputy Derrick Kearney was dispatched to a call of a man who was unconscious and stopped breathing just as Deputy Kearney arrived. Kearney administered NARCAN and performed CPR on the man until an ambulance arrived.

Utah’s mountains and forests are home to thousands of black bears and the Division of Wildlife Resources is urging the public to be smart for the benefit of all. “Summer is here and hikers and campers are out in full force,” shares DWR Outreach Manager Tonya Kieffer.

A friendly rivalry between the Duchesne and Uintah County Libraries is fueling more local kids to sign up for the summer reading programs. Uintah County Library Director Sam Passey took to Facebook a week ago announcing that the Duchesne County Library group had more children signed up for their Summer Reading Program and urged Uintah County residents to sign up and get reading.
