KNEU 1250The smoke in the Uintah Basin can be seen and its adverse effects on health can be felt. The Utah Department of Environmental Quality has provided multiple reports and warnings that “Unhealthy” levels of smoke are moving from the Pole Creek Fire in Spanish Fork Canyon and heading straight for the Uintah Basin.
Uintah Basin high school students are taking advantage of the CTE Pathways program at a greater rate than their peers on a state level. State statistics show that 80 percent of Uintah Basin high school students were defined as “concentrators” in a Career and Technical Education Pathway course while statewide that number is at 56 percent.
This weekend’s mountain biking competition at Buckskin Hills in Uintah County will benefit more than just the high school kids taking part. The event, which brings approximately a thousand athletes and their supporters, also provides a real boost to the local economy.

According to a press release from Vernal PD, officers found that three people had been assaulted and received injuries and at least one person had been stabbed by an unknown assailant.

Vernal City Police had been dispatched to the same area as the stabbing 30 minutes prior on a complaint of a suspicious person consistent with the description of the suspect in this case.
