The Utah Department of Environmental Quality has provided multiple reports and warnings that “Unhealthy” levels of smoke are moving from the Pole Creek Fire in Spanish Fork Canyon and heading straight for the Uintah Basin.

Uintah Basin high school students are taking advantage of the CTE Pathways program at a greater rate than their peers on a state level. State statistics show that 80 percent of Uintah Basin high school students were defined as “concentrators” in a Career and Technical Education Pathway course while statewide that number is at 56 percent.

New Child Abuse Charges for Man Convicted of Child Abuse in Duchesne County

The allegations of child abuse against a man now living in Salt Lake County are chilling and all the more so when you learn he has already been convicted on serious child abuse charges, including in the Uintah Basin. According to a Good 4 Utah report, Kade Abegglen was arrested last week when his almost 1-year-old son was brought to Primary Children’s Hospital with optical issues as a result of severe head injuries.

Early Morning Stabbing at Vernal City Residence

Vernal City Police have confirmed that a stabbing took place at a Vernal City residence near Ashley Regional Medical Center in the early morning hours of September 13th. According the the press release from Vernal PD, officers found that three people had been assaulted and received injuries and at least one person had been stabbed by an unknown assailant. The suspect was described as a male subject wearing all black. Vernal City Police had been dispatched to the same area as the stabbing 30 minutes prior on a complaint of a suspicious person consistent with the description of the suspect in this case.
