KNEU 1250A new day means a new scam, or at least it sure feels that way. Sweetwater County Sheriff Mike Lowell has issued a warning of a new “Fake Check” scam now circulating. “This is a mail scam that is something more elaborate than others,” shares Sheriff Lowell. “It’s set up in such a way that cursory Internet searches can make it look legitimate.”
Many of the state’s reservoirs are at below average water levels while Flaming Gorge is staying high and strong. According to the Bureau of Reclamation report update on September 10th, Flaming Gorge is still at 92 percent of its live capacity. Daily average releases are set at 2,000 cfs. Flow into Flaming Gorge Reservoir during the month of August was only 47 percent of average but still kept the reservoir above 90 percent of capacity.

Last Thursday, Sweetwater County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Florida man transporting over 30 pounds of marijuana.
Firefighters continue to work on the Boone Draw Fire 50 miles West of Craig. According to the Northwest Colorado Fire Management Unit, the Boone Draw Fire is over 6,000 acres and is burning on BLM and private land in pinyon-juniper, grass, and some sage in the southwestern portion of the fire. At last report, the fire was at 5 percent contained.
