Deena Millecam’s Artwork On Display

Local artist Deena Millecam is the featured artist through the month of November at the Uintah County Library. Deena grew up on a fruit farm in Payson and it was there that her work ethic was formed. After she graduated from Utah State with a Bachelor of Education in Fine Arts she moved to the Uintah Basin and taught at Vernal Junior High.

Large Scale Search for Missing Rock Springs Hunter Unsuccessful

A large scale search for a missing Rock Springs hunter was unsuccessful on Saturday. 74-year-old Terry Meador was reported missing on October 25th when he failed to return from a solo hunting trip. His unoccupied vehicle was found badly stuck north of the summit of Pine Mountain and searches of the area began on October 26th.

Hotel Vernal Haunt Charity Event Raises Over $58,000

Thanks to a massive collaboration effort of volunteers, sponsors and a community eager to be spooked for a great cause, the Hotel Vernal Haunt was a fantastic success raising over $58,000 dollars for local charities. “The Hotel Vernal opened for guests again in October 2018 after a 27 year vacancy [and] the charity event far exceeded expectations,” shares Vernal City Manager and event coordinator Quinn Bennion.

UTSSD Terminates Executive Director Adam Massey

The Uintah Transportation Special Service District Board of Directors terminated the employment contract of Executive Director Adam Massey during their meeting on Thursday evening. Board member Kevin Van Tassell made the motion to terminate Massey’s employment agreement which was unanimously approved by the board. Van Tassell read a statement during his motion explaining that the District is exercising their rights in section 7.4 of Massey’s employment agreement that states the termination can be made without cause.

DWR: Over 10,000 Pheasants to Be Released During Hunt

The wild pheasant populations are lower than in past years but hunters have no reason to worry. The Division of Wildlife Resources has announced that they will be releasing more than 10,000 pheasants between 61 sites around the state during the general pheasant hunt that runs from November 3rd through December 2nd.
