KNEU 1250Generosity overflowed during the Enchanted Forest charity auction held at the Crossroads Community Center in Roosevelt. The dinner and auction was held Thursday evening, with 21 trees raising $120,000 dollars for local charities and causes. Duchesne County Chamber Director Irene Hansen says there was another $30,000 dollars raised in tree sponsorships and it’s expected an additional $10,000 dollars on all the silent auction items.
Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office has announced that the body of 26-year-old Chenoa L. Plank was recovered from Strawberry Reservoir Sunday afternoon. Authorities have shared that Plank and 24-year-old Benjamin Magalis were fishing near Chicken Creek West on Monday, November 12th, when their canoe capsized. “The temperature of the water was about 38 degrees Fahrenheit. Chenoa’s dog, Hazel, was wearing a life jacket and was rescued… Sadly, Chenoa and Benjamin perished in the water.
UBTech announced their 2018-2019 Student of the Year at a special awards banquet on Thursday night held at the UBTech Roosevelt Campus. McKinlee Thacker is a student in the Automotive Maintenance, Light Repair, and Welding programs of UBTech and was named the new Student of the Year, replacing 2017-2018 Student of the Year Faith Burk.
The Search and Rescue operation for a missing 74-year-old Rock Springs man has been officially suspended. Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office announced last week that all search efforts for Terry Meador proved unsuccessful. Meador was reported missing on October 25th after he failed to return from a solo hunting trip south of Rock Springs. His unoccupied vehicle was found badly stuck about 3 miles north of the summit of Pine Mountain.
Christmas is around the corner and the Roosevelt Police Department is preparing to sponsor this year’s Shop with a Cop event on Saturday, December 8th. The Shop with a Cop event has local law enforcement personnel, with other volunteers, sharing a wonderful Christmas experience with children who might not otherwise have much this Christmas season.
To anyone who was on or around Strawberry Reservoir between November 12th and 16th, the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office is asking for your help. Anyone who may have picked up a gray colored life jacket is asked to call Wasatch County Dispatch. Several items were innocently picked up out of the water this week that could potentially change a missing person search in a significant way.

Have you ever had the desire to learn how to hunt waterfowl? The Division of Wildlife Resources is hosting a free waterfowl-hunting clinic on Saturday, November 17th, at the Vernal Game Farm. The clinic will run from 10am to 1pm and is open to all ages. Some of the things individuals will learn include properly identifying waterfowl species, the set up and use of a variety of blinds, how to call ducks and geese, how to handle a hunting dog, ways to arrange a spread of decoys and shooting a shotgun.

It tells a fantastic story of family and determination. The acting is spectacular and every actor gives 110%. Mindy Palmer, the director of the show says, “The new auditorium is amazing. Newsies has some of the best musical theatre songs ever written. If you don’t know it, come and find out why you love it… because you will. The Vernal Regional Airport is asking the public to help them reach their goal of 10,000 enplanements in 2018. An enplanement is one person boarding in Vernal and departing the airport and when 10,000 is reached in a calendar year, the airport qualifies for a $1,000,000 dollar grant in federal funding for fiscal year 2020.
